FAQ'sWhat are the steps of the translation process? The translation team, including the project manager, divides the work into different phases: translation, editing, proofreading, and desktop publishing. The translation and editing is usually done by the main translator and the proofreading is done by another translator with the same or better qualifications. When they are finished, the work is sent to the desktop publishing specialist for formatting or work on graphics. How quickly can you turn around my document? A translator can translate on average 2,000 English words per day. This is about 6 average A4 pages of text. This time frame varies according to the complexity and legibility of the document, and the language pair being translated. For large documents the work is given to a team of translators. What are normal payment terms? Usually, we request that invoices be paid no later than 30 days after the invoice date. Other payments terms are available depending on the size of the project. Unpaid invoices will be subject to a 10% service charge. How do you price your work? Written translation projects are based on the document word count, subject matter complexity, and turnaround time of the project. There are different rates depending on European and Asian languages, regular and urgent projects, volume amount, and special formatting and typesetting requirements. We will provide you a fixed quote, which is valid for one week, within 24 hours. Can you keep the same format/layout as the original? In most cases, yes. However, it may lengthen turnaround time. If you have the original file or source file then the turn-around time is significantly shorter. Do you use native speaking translators? We use professional, native speaking translators with experience in their field. Can you provide a certified translation for legal documents? In most cases, yes. If depends on the language. Please contact us with specific details. Do you provide DTP services, and do you process files in graphical formats? In most cases, yes. We work with files such as .pdf, .po, .ppt, .png, and .jpeg. Please note that projects in locked content like .pdfs may need more time due to the additional formatting work involved. Do I pay more for urgent projects? Yes, urgent projects require more resources. We will provide you with a detailed quote upon request. If we cannot perform the job within the requested timeframe, we will provide you with the earliest delivery time. What methods of payment do you accept? You can pay directly by bank transfer, check, or PayPal. Payments may also be made with credit cards, but there is a 3% transaction fee added to the final price. Therefore, we do not encourage these types of payments. Do you provide proofreading services and would it cost as much as a translation? In most cases, the proofreading of translations made by other firms/translators is charged at 50% of the translation rate. However, if the quality of your translation is low, as is likely with some automatic translation services or if the text was translated by a non-native or non-professional translator the rate may be more. I have a text with many repetitions … can I pay less than the full price? If the text has a part that recurs multiple times without any differences, then processing is actually faster, and we can negotiate a lower price. Do you make transcripts? Yes, we do transcriptions in the language you require. Do I need to provide a glossary or references? If possible. The glossary will help reduce translation time as well as ensure consistency between the document we are translating and your previously translated documents.
